Purpose and Scope
This statement describes the privacy practices used for the public Mr. Johnson Academy classroom website. The website provides general classroom information, family resources, school links, and information about Mr. Johnson's educational journey. It is not a student records system and is not intended to replace official SBCSC privacy notices, policies, or procedures.
Public Website Commitments
- The public website will not publish student grades, attendance, assessment results, behavior or discipline records, intervention data, disability or accommodation information, student identification numbers, or other personally identifiable information from education records.
- Student-specific records and communications will remain in district-approved, access-controlled systems or other channels authorized by SBCSC.
- Student names, photographs, videos, and identifiable student work will not be posted unless the disclosure is permitted by SBCSC policy and FERPA, including applicable directory-information notices, parent or eligible-student consent, and opt-out requirements.
- The public website will not use open forms to collect grades, health information, disability information, discipline matters, or other sensitive student information.
- Links to Canvas, PowerSchool, Clever, Amplify/CKLA, and other educational services are provided for convenience. Protected information remains subject to each district-approved system's authentication, access controls, and privacy requirements.
- Page content, downloadable files, image descriptions, filenames, and metadata will be reviewed to avoid accidental disclosure of student information.
Family and Student Communication
Families should not submit confidential or student-specific information through public comments or public-facing forms. Questions involving grades, attendance, behavior, services, accommodations, or other student records should be directed to Mr. Johnson through the SBCSC email address or an approved district platform.
Photos, Videos, and Student Work
Photos and videos may qualify as education records when they are directly related to a student and maintained by a school or a party acting for the school. Before publishing identifiable student media or work, Mr. Johnson Academy will follow SBCSC approval procedures and confirm that the disclosure is permitted, including honoring applicable opt-outs.
Security and Response
- Use reasonable administrative and technological safeguards appropriate to the information involved.
- Limit access to education records to authorized school officials with a legitimate educational interest.
- Review the public website periodically and remove outdated or unnecessary material.
- Promptly report and address any suspected disclosure of protected student information through SBCSC procedures.
Important: This statement reflects the intended privacy practices of the Mr. Johnson Academy classroom website. It does not independently certify legal compliance, modify FERPA, or replace SBCSC policy, annual FERPA notices, legal guidance, or required consent procedures.
